For all new planning applications in the United Kingdom a SUDS compliant drainage strategy will be required for the surface water drainage system.

A SUDS compliant design has to consider the 4 pillars of sustainable drainage, these 3 pillars are.

Water Quality, Water Quantity, Amenity & Biodiversity

At Advant Engineers we have the experience of providing SUDS compliant drainage designs for all scheme from a residential house extension to a 400 unit residential scheme, including industrila and commercial.

Each council through out the UK have variations on what they will accept in a SUDS scheme, particularly when working in Wales who have already implemented Schedule 3 for SUDS design and have appointed SAB officers within the council.

On larger schemes it is benefiaicl to engage with the engineer early doors as they can help show any SUDS elements that may be required and be incorptated into the architects site layout before the design progresses too far and the engineers then having to fit in and retrofit SUDS elements into the site layout.
